Welcome to the Flutter family 💛

We're thrilled you're here. We created Flutter, Darlings! after working at loads of weddings and experiencing one too many underwhelming wedding confetti moments (there's nothing like picking dried lavender out of your £300 up-do to really bring you down to earth.)

We do things a little differently than the big retail websites here, as we make every order on a custom basis for our lovely customers.

So, strap in for a long read of everything you might need to know about creating a a confetti moment that you will remember literally forever.

Choosing your colours

You've got SO many options for choosing your confetti colours: Match your wedding palette, keep it traditional for a white wedding confetti moment, nod to. your football team, channel your Era, complement your flowers, or go for a riotous rainbow.

Five or more colours is a great basis for a stunning wedding confetti mix. Most couples opt for ivory or white as a base, then four to eight other colours.

Lots of our couples go for a mix based around one colour. This is super simple - choose your favourite colour (let's say pink, for example) and go for every confetti shade in this colour (that's Blush, Marvellous Marcia, Ross, Panther Pink and Raspberry Ripple). Then, add a neutral - Ivory or All White to keep it cute, Tea and Toast for rustic vibes or Betty for ✨drama ✨.

Analogous colours - those next to each other on a colour spectrum or colour wheel always look gorgeous next to each other; greens and blues, reds and pinks, oranges and yellows, blues and purples, greens and yellows - you get the idea! We've laid our colours out in a spectrum on this page so you can pick the shades either side of your favourite hue and go from there.

Complementary colours are guaranteed to bring drama to your blend of biodegradable confetti. These are the shades across the colour wheel from each other e.g. blue and orange. Adding a few pops of green to your pink mix? Wicked.

Hues are another way to create a cohesive mix, and you can click through to see our chosen darlings for each vibe. Think all of the brights, all of the pastels, or all of the neutrals - or if you want the moodiest mix going, all of our deep tones

Having said all of this, our advice is don't overthink it! Go with the wedding confetti combination that you love the most - if that's a neon rainbow despite your bridal party being in champagne and sage green, so what?

How much confetti to buy?

The short answer is somewhere between one and two handfuls per guest, plus cannons. So, for a 100 guest wedding, we'd suggest 100-200 handfuls and 4-8 cannons, depending on the vibes you're going for (dainty vs all out).

Dance floor confetti moment to kick off the celebrations are a total vibe. For these, we'd suggest adding a cannon for each of your bridal party, or taking matters into your own hands and letting off a Dolly cannon to beckon your guests onto the dance floor.

The long answer is here, if you want a bit more help!

Loose confetti or confetti cannons?

Por qué no los dos? We love a confetti moment with both loose confetti and cannons, because you get all of the splendour of a massive, long confetti moment thanks to the cannons and every guest can get involved with their own fistful of fun.

Cannons on their own are great for elopements, epic bridal party photos and dance floor riots. Confetti handfuls on their own might be necessary depending on your venue rules.

Ultimately, it comes down to what you both want! Most of our couples are looking for a storm, so they double down on confetti and cannons.

When to order

We strongly suggest you plan your confetti order at least three months before your wedding day.

Every Flutter, Darlings! order is made by us, by hand. Think of us as little confetti artisans, or something. That means we have limited production capacity for each day, and we do get booked up.

You will be asked to choose your 'send by' date at checkout; we'd suggest that this date is at least a month before your wedding. During wedding season you should expect that the next available 'send by' date is at least three weeks away.

Most of our couples order ~4 months in advance of the big day, but there's no reason why you can't order further in advance. Just keep your confetti stored away from light and moisture!

Once your confetti has arrived

If you've ordered your wedding confetti well ahead of time (gold star for good wedmin-ing) then all that's left to do between the big day that the confetti drops on your doorstep and your actual Big Day is to keep your confetti stored away from moisture and sunlight, and avoid squishing it under other wedding detritus.

Why we don't recommend confetti cones or bags

Spare yourself the task of decanting your wedding confetti into tiny bags or cones unless you really, really want these as part of your day.

Several of your guests WILL use the confetti packet to launch the confetti from, no matter how nicely they are asked to decant the confetti into their hands. Then, they go to throw as you approach and all you'll see in your confetti photos is a glassine pouch covering your face.

Swerve that annoyance entirely by having your guests take a fistful of wedding confetti from a box, bag, or bucket. You can then turn that box, bag, or bucket into a keepsake container for your wedding memories.

On the day

Fluff it up baaaaaaby!

Your confetti will probably arrive looking a little... flat. This is because it settles in transit, but it's not a problem. Nominate a volunteer to stick their hands in and give it a good fluff and shake before it gets dished out, and you'll be good to go.

Your photographer will know how to capture a mega wedding confetti shot; we strongly suggest letting them run the show for your confetti run with the support of your planner and bridal party.

To state the obvious, look high and smile! Soak it up. Stop for a kiss. Enjoy eveeeeery moment. Because you've gone for the best wedding confetti ever, your confetti moment will last more than a few seconds, so please do go back for a second snog (with the same person).

We wanna see you kiss please
